Here's the bottom line. Baseball players are the most athletic all around athletes in all of sports. Just use the eye test. Look at the baseball player swing the cricket bat. Does he belong among the sports best? Probably not but it looks like he can make adjustments and compete. Now compare the cricket player's swing of the baseball bat. If you're honest, you'd admit he looks way out of his element and there's no question he couldn't compete among the sports best. This is not a knock on cricket. My theory applies to the top athletes in other sports as well. Look up videos of "other" professional athletes throwing out a first pitch or swinging a bat. You'll find plenty of unathletic instances. Now show me a video of a professional ball player awkwardly catching or throwing a football, shooting a basketball, striking a puck, swinging a golf club or even throwing a bowling ball. You won't find one.

It is definitely easier to make contact with a cricket bat. Now, the issue is, there are fielders all around you in cricket. Unless you are sure you are gonna hit the fly ball out of the park, it will very likely be caught by the fielder and then you are out for the rest of the game.
